Department of Defense Honors Workforce ADL Co-Laboratory

The Office of the Secretary of Defense recently honored the University of Memphis for "noteworthy service to the Nation and contributions and innovations advancing the state of the art of and access to education and training anywhere, anytime" through the Workforce Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Co-Laboratory located in the FedEx Institute of Technology. Dr. Shirley Raines was on hand with Dr. Xiangen Hu, Workforce ADL Co-Lab co-director, to accept the reward.

The Workforce ADL Co-Lab is one of four such laboratories in the United States. It is the catalyst of ADL implementation in industry, serving as a facilitator of the development and integration of ADL technologies in industry to enhance the learning and training of the workforce of the future. The Workforce ADL Co-Lab is the mechanism that promotes adoption of ADL technologies industry through education, technical training and accessibility to solutions that will contribute to the creation of the advanced digital knowledge environment in workforce settings.
